PHOENIX, Ariz (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – OfferPad, the leading on-demand, tech-enabled direct home buyer and seller, today announced the hire of seasoned marketing executive, Darrin Shamo as chief marketing officer and Cortney Read as director of communications and outreach. The two executives join Matt Bohn, chief operating officer as of August 2017. Together, the team is responsible for the company’s national expansion and brand awareness.

The company’s platform has disrupted the traditional real estate process by empowering consumers and using technology to eliminate the uncertainty that comes with buying and selling a home. OfferPad has grown significantly over the past year and now operates in eight major markets in the U.S., with plans to grow in 2018. The company recently announced a joint venture with loanDepot, the nation’s second largest non-bank consumer lender, to create OfferPad Home Loans, that will provide customized mortgage financing solutions to OfferPad’s customers.
With this growth, OfferPad had a need to expand its leadership to include key hires within marketing and operations. As Chief Marketing Officer, Darrin Shamo will be responsible for driving brand awareness and growth, both nationally and within local markets where the company currently operates. Shamo joins OfferPad most recently from DoorDash, where he helped to expand the brand’s footprint from 26 to 56 markets. Prior to that role, Shamo served as CMO for Coupang, a high growth startup located in Seoul, South Korea, where he led all acquisition, retention, pricing and fraud/abuse practices for the company. Shamo spent more than a decade at Zappos, where he helped grow the company from $70M to $3.6B in gross merchandise value.

Shamo joins Matt Bohn, who has been leading operations at OfferPad since August. As Chief Operating Officer, Bohn oversees the company’s core business functions. Bohn is a seasoned executive with more than two decades experience spanning startup, Fortune 500 and public-sector companies. Bohn came to OfferPad after working in leadership development at Egon Zehnder and spending over a decade at Millennium Challenge Corporation, where he most recently served as Chief Financial Officer. He was a member of the Investment Management Committee, overseeing billions of dollars in investments globally, and served in operational leadership roles in the U.S., Latin America, and Asia. Prior to Millennium Challenge Corporation, Bohn held a variety of leadership roles at General Atlantic, Booz Allen Hamilton and a technology startup in the Bay Area.
In addition, OfferPad has brought on Cortney Read in the newly created role of Director of Communications and Outreach. Read most recently served as Director with Allison+Partners, a global public relations agency, where she managed strategic media relations plans to support large brands such as Baidu and Toyota Motor North America. Prior to Allison+Partners, Read was an early employee at LifeLock, Inc. where she was responsible for managing crisis communications and leading regional and national media relations efforts. She managed internal and external communication for LifeLock’s first acquisition, along with handling the company’s public relations and marketing efforts to support the IPO in October 2012. In her role at OfferPad, Read will be focused on the company’s strategic communications and media relations efforts.
